Licensing your Pet
If your dog or cat is over the age of four (4) months and has been with you for thirty (30) days or longer you are required by law to obtain a current license and license tag.
Anacapa Animal Hospital is authorized to issue pet licenses for the County of Ventura. This includes licensing pets that live in the following cities:
Ventura, Camarillo, Fillmore, Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Moorepark, Simi Valley.
The cities of Oxnard, Santa Paula and Thousand Oaks issue there own licenses.

Note: The City of Moorepark and the City of Oxnard require all cats be licensed as well as dogs.

What documentation do I need to bring with me to purchase the license?- If you received a renewal notice in the mail, please bring that with you.
- If you are not a client at Anacapa Animal Hospital or if you received your rabies vaccine at another clinic please bring:
- Current rabies certificate (must include: date vaccine was given, date vaccine will expire, lot number of the vaccine)
- Spay or Neuter certificate (certificate of sterility)
How much is a license?
Anacapa Animal Hospital issues licenses on behalf of the County of Ventura and does not charge an additional fee for this service.
- License Fees
- Unaltered male or female dogs and cats: $50.00
- Altered dogs and cats: $20.00
How long is the license good for?
- In general a license is valid for 1 year assuming your rabies vaccine is valid for that time period.
